Here are some services I offer:

  • Writing/reporting. My journalism experience includes everything from one-source briefs to personal essays and in-depth features of more than 3,000 words for traditional and online media. I also have experience writing news releases, biographies/profiles, blogs and social media posts. Finding and interviewing sources, especially “real people” is my strength — I’ve interviewed and written about mothers who’ve lost children to drug overdoses, big-city mayors, college basketball coaching legends, small business owners, first-generation African-American college students, breast cancer survivors, families of 9/11 victims and European and Caribbean politicians.
  • Editing. I’ve developed story budgets and managed writing assignments for newsletters and magazines, while copyediting and writing headlines for print and online articles and websites. I’ve also been the go-to proofreader who can sniff out a location misspelling or incorrect historical date.
  • Coaching. I’ll provide editorial guidance for your essay or reported feature and whip into publication shape. I’ll then offer assistance on editorial placement possibilities.
  • Conference presentations/public speaking. I’ve organized workshop presentations and served as a panelist at writing conferences, specializing in topics relating to finding one’s writing niche and targeting story submissions and pitches to news trends to increase acceptance for publication
